So now, the Toronto Sun, cops, and pieces-of-shit writers like that one are going to be your friends now?
This alleged incident from 15 years ago might or might not be true. It's really the word of a Toronto cop (you know, those sterling defenders of citizens' rights and racial harmony) against Layton's.
All the rest of that article was garbage, including the shit about the co-op.
But hey, if pro-war, pro-imperialism, pro-cop, pro-conservative writers are your bag now, go for it.
Did you even read the article? It is NOT about the massage incident! It is about the hypocrisy of a party leader who does not practice what he preaches. Read it before you tar me with the Toronto Sun News feather!
Apparently the author of the article has a real problem with career politicians. Does she sneer at all of them that way or only the lefties?
The item about Layton and Chow living in subsidized accommodations has been debunked on countless occasions. Some of the units in the co-op, including theirs, were priced at market rates which subsidized the units that weren't. That's how those co-ops work. I'm sure McLeod knows that but doesn't care. If you didn't know it, you do now.
Funny you fail to mention their million dollar expenses in your rebuttal.
And we all know that Olivia Chow didn't earn her seat : voter irregularities abound and everyone knows it. This pair is corrupt to the core, just like Harper and his cronies.
"The name on Canadian NDP (read Socialist) leader Jack Layton’s birth certificate is ‘John’. And the only way voters ever got to know that was because Layton was a literal John when Toronto police found him naked as a jaybird in a ‘massage parlour’ in Toronto’s Chinatown. (Exercising says his NDP politician wife Olivia Chow).
Until the Toronto Sun drummed it back up, that was 15 years ago and he wasn’t charged by police but sent back home on his signature bicycle."
Oh! Look who wrote it!
"Judi McLeod is an award-winning journalist with 30 years experience in the print media. A former Toronto Sun columnist, she also worked for the Kingston Whig Standard. Her work has appeared on Rush Limbaugh, Newsmax.com, Drudge Report, Foxnews.com, and Glenn Beck."
These are your new sources? Sun columnists and cops?
"Turned out it was all nonsense. 70% of the units in the co-op were being rented at market rates, including Chow and Layton’s digs. By March, 1990 they voluntarily began paying additional funds to offset their portion of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation subsidy to the co-op—the only members of the co-op who did so.
Responding to Kerr’s faux-exposé, the co-op board stated the plain facts: mixed-income tenancy was how co-ops survived. In June, 1990, the Toronto city solicitor cleared Layton and Chow of any wrongdoing.* Later that month, the two bought a house in Toronto’s Chinatown with Chow’s mother, something they had been planning for a while."
And, personally, I can think of more important things to get excited about than that a couple of married MPs have a $2,000 a month in accommodation expenses in Ottawa.
Your later post, about the significance of these allegations (if they're true) is well taken. I don't have a problem with prostitution per se, just the often involuntary nature of it.
But again, all we've got is the word of a self-interested Toronto cop and Jack Layton. About an incident that maybe occurred 15 years ago.
If you want to run with cops and Sun columnists and stephen harper, go right ahead. But maybe you should de-list from "Progressive Bloggers" first.
Twarp: don't give me this idiotic "put up or shut up" argument. Just cuz i don't support your favourite john Layton, doesn't make me a friend of Harper. But I guess u have to stretch the truth just like John LAYton to try to discredit me. Whatever.
It took me a few minutes to remember the accusation about voting fraud in Olivia Chow's riding. It was Jason Cherniak who tried to give that silly story wheels and Cherniak eventually retracted the accusation and apologized. The story is debunked here and Cherniak's apology is noted at the bottom.

There's not much else there but hyperbole.

Yes, I read the article. Did you?

The rest of the article talks about his hypocracy.
If it makes you feel better, even the TorStar, who endorsed John LAYton reports on this story which is a reflection of his character.

Je persiste et signe. Jack is a hypocrite like Harper.

You can write whatever you want. If your sources are Sun-scum and cops, just don't expect to get a free ride for it.
If you don't want criticisms just delete my comments.

No, we don't all know it. And "everyone knows it" doesn't prove it.
